When someone is prejudiced against people who are homeless and then becomes homeless themselves, their anti-homelessness prejudice turns inward (i.e. hypocrisy), causing depression.
According to this theory, inequality may exist and persist between demographic groups even when economic agents (consumers, workers, employers, etc.) are rational and non-prejudiced.
