Da AT-reiche Abschnitte im Heterochromatin reichlicher als im Euchromatin vertreten sind, wird ersteres preferentiell markiert.
Die unterschiedliche Intensität einzelner Banden spiegelt den unterschiedlichen AT-Gehalt wider.
