Contratiempos besteht aus 30 Diapositiven, auf denen die Brüche, Risse und Spalten im Zement des Marquise zu sehen sind. Sie weisen überraschende Ähnlichkeiten mit der geographischen Form des südamerikanischen Kontinents auf.
Der Künstler hat hier mit minimalen Mitteln und ohne irgendwelche Veränderungen vorzunehmen, eine zufällige und dennoch reale Kartograophie Südamerikas erstellt, die den Kontinent in einer Annäherung zwischen Wunsch und Einbildung ins Gedächtnis ruft.

Contratiempos consists of 30 slides showing ruptures, cracks and splits in the cement pavement of the Marquise, which reproduce in a surprising resemblance the form of the South American continent.
In this way, the artist has built – with minimal means and without changing anything – a random but actual cartography of South America, a resemblance to the continent that was constructed in an approximation of desire and imagination.
