Am häufigsten wird eine Chemotherapie mit so genannten Zytostatika vorgenommen.
Zytostatika hemmen die Teilung und Vermehrung der Krebszellen und dadurch das Wachstum der Krebsgeschwulst. Bekämpft werden damit bösartige, rasch wachsende Zellen.
Die Anwendung erfolgt meist als Ergänzung / Folge einer Operation.
