Am Anfang stand Edwin Redslob (1848-1973), der als Reichskunstwart der Weimarer Republik nach Hitlers Machtergreifung rasch in Ungnade gefallen war und nach 1945 im Westteil der Stadt als Gründer des Tagespiegels eine führende Rolle spielte.
