Erebia euryale ist im Alpenraum in der Bergwaldstufe eine der häufigsten Erebien, auch in Bayern kommt sie vor ( Alpen, Bayerischer Wald ).
Die Gesamtverbreitung reicht von Nordspanien (Kantabrisches Gebirge, Pyrenäen) über das Massif Central und die Alpen bis zu den Karpaten und weite Bereiche des Balkans.
Daneben werden der Ural und einige weitere östliche Gebiete besiedelt.
