Hallo All,

Interesting article on the many English words of (mostly) Indian origin from the BBC here; http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18796493

And the dictionary itself http://openlibrary.org/books/OL13501551M/Hobson-Jobson

everything you have uploaded is absolutely of immense interest and of use to all of us engrossed in the study of the English Language.

Following is another wonderful article about the contribution of the Greek Language to the English one.

Interesting links. Is there anything similar to Hobson-Jobson describing loanwords used in German?

Thanks,

Hallo lazlo –

Nice link. I think we all know that English has a lot of Greek words, but seeing so many described really brought it home :)

DrDrDrMr -

Yes I think there are a few; just google ‘Fremdwörterbuch’.

fredbär
