Simpsons quote: how many t's are there in the word not guilt

Marge
Hi@all,

While it's true that some jokes don't translate, I'm afraid I don't "get" the meaning of this quote from "The Simpsons":

Anybody have an idea? :?:

TIA x 10

Hello again,

Sorry, I've just seen that I've misquoted this. It should read: "How many t's are there in the word not guilty?"

TIA

Hi Marge,

Are you sure this isn't a misquote - apart from the link you gave there were no other google entries

Cheers

Hey all,

"Not guilty" is not a word, it's two words, so maybe that part about "How many T's in the word 'not guilty'?" was indeed a misquote. Anyway, there's a good chance what Homer really said in English was this: How many S's in "innocent"? Check this out: http://www.snpp.com/episodes/1F19.html

Take it easy,
