Der charakteristischerweise in der Körpertiefe liegende Tumor erhält somit weniger Dosis als Gewebe im Strahlengang „ upstream ” vor ihm, hinter dem Tumor liegende Organe ( z. B. Rückenmark, Sehnerven, Hirnteile ) erhalten immer noch die Dosisschleppe „ downstream ”.
