Inside Syria, UNHCR continues to help those Yazidi people fleeing the Sinjar area seeking shelter there.
As of today there are an estimated 8,000 people at the Newroz camp, about 60 kilometres from the Iraqi border, plus an estimated 3,000 who have moved to Yazidi villages in and around the towns of Malkia, Qahtania, Amuda, Derbassia.

UNHCR is coordinating the UN response to the Yazidi refugees in Syria which is rapidly scaling up.
A joint UN mission was carried out on 12 August, bringing shelter and household items, ready to eat food, high energy biscuits, children's summer clothes and soap, provided by UNHCR, WFP and UNICEF.

Gemeinsam mit dem WFP und UNICEF wurde am 12. August 2014 eine Hilfslieferung in die Region gebracht, die Menschen dort mit Zelten, Planen, Fertignahrung, Energieriegeln, Hygieneartikeln und Sommerkleidung für Kinder versorgt.
