Auf seinen Händen ist die so genannte Faustwehr gut zu erkennen. Sie bestand aus einem ca. drei Meter langen Lederriemen, der um die Hand und Handgelenke gewickelt wurde, um die Wucht des Schlages zu erhöhen.
Der Faustkämpfer wird vermutlich in dem Moment angesprochen, da sein Blick sich nach rechts oben (zu einem fiktiven Gegenüber) wendet.
