- A Burns Night acontece em 25 de janeiro, quando se comemora o nascimento do poeta escocês Robert Burns (1759-1796). Esta comemoração atrai entusiastas da obra de Burns, não apenas da Escócia mas também de todo o mundo. Neste dia é servida uma refeição especial,a Burns Supper, composta de haggis (um tipo de picadinho assado de miúdos de ovelha temperados e misturados com aveia e cebola. A carne é cozida dentro da tripa da ovelha e depois dourada no forno), neeps (nabos) e mashed tatties (purê de batatas).
