Seit dem 4. November 2014 hat der einheitliche Aufsichtsmechanismus ( Single Supervisory Mechanism, SSM ) seine Arbeit aufgenommen.
Es setzt sich aus der Europäischen Zentralbank ( EZB ) und den nationalen Aufsichtsbehörden ( National Competent Authorities , NCAs ) der Euro-Länder und der anderen teilnehmenden Mitgliedsstaaten zusammen .
Die drei Hauptziele des SSM sind:
