The Sans Souci Wien Hotel was established in a historical building erected in 1872, telling a long story.
Originally it was the location of “Zum großen Zeisig“, the inn that served Johann Strauß for the 1858 premiere of his “Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka”.
Named Hotel Höller, the establishment was in continuous operation from 1873 to 1953, interrupted only for a short occupation by the US army after World War II.

Als Hotel Höller war das Haus von 1873 fast durchgehend bis 1953 in Betrieb, nur mit einer kurzen Unterbrechung durch die US-Besatzung nach dem 2. Weltkrieg.

Before the interval, Daniel Barenboim rewarded the audience with an encore after his memorable rendition of Beethoven´s piano concerto, while Zubin Mehta and the orchestra rounded off the evening at the end with Johann Strauß´ Tritsch-Tratsch Polka as an encore.
Prince Albert II. and his sister Caroline of Monaco also attended the concert and partook in a reception afterwards in honour of Mo.

Das begeisterte Auditorium entließ Mo. Daniel Barenboim erst nach einer Zugabe in die Pause, Mo. Zubin Mehta rundete den Konzertabend in der zweiten Hälfte nach Don Quixote mit der Tritsch-Tratsch Polka von Johann Strauß als Zugabe schwungvoll ab.
Fürst Albert II. und seine Schwester Caroline von Monaco waren ebenfalls im Publikum vertreten und nahmen auch an einem im Anschluss an das Konzert gehaltenen Empfang für Mo. Mehta, Mo. Barenboim und den Orchestervorstand teil.
