Die Blut-Hirn Schranke ist ein Schutzmechanismus des Gehirns vor chemischen Einflüssen aus dem Blut, erschwert aber auch den Transport von Medikamenten ins Gehirn.

cerebral open flow microperfusion - cOFM. cOFM is used to take continuous measurements of biochemical processes in the brain, in particular, the transport of substances across the blood-brain barrier into the brain.
The blood-brain barrier acts to protect the brain from chemicals in the blood circulation, but also makes it difficult for neuroactive drugs to reach the brain.

Zwischen 2000 und 2010 wurden in unserer Klinik 34 Patienten (19 w/15 m) mit cerebral metastasiertem MM behandelt und hinsichtlich klinischer Faktoren, Outcome und Prognose analysiert.
Das mittlere Alter bei Diagnose der Hirnmetastase lag bei 58 Jahren (32-80 Jahre).
