- At the end of "collège", students aged 15 or 16 can go to a lycée. There are three classes, "seconde", "première" and "terminale", and at the end, students sit the "baccalauréat".
- CAPES
- The CAPES is a state exam. Teachers with a CAPES can teach in a secondary school ("collège"). They are continuously assessed and must teach 18 hours a week. The test follows a year as a student teacher.

- Children in France go to école primaire from the age of six years and spend five years there. They start in class CP, progress on to CE1 and CE2 and finish with CM1 and CM2. At 11 years old, children go to "collège".
