- Au Royaume-Uni, on fait généralement la distinction entre deux types de journaux : les broadsheets sont des quotidiens de grand format considérés comme des journaux de qualité (Times, Guardian, Daily Telegraph etc.) ; les tabloids font la moitié du grand format traditionnel et sont associés à la presse à sensation (Sun, Daily Mail, etc.). La diffusion des quotidiens est élevée (Sun : 4 millions ; Telegraph : 1 million) et la plupart d'entre eux publient une édition ‘week-end’ extrêmement populaire. Les États-Unis ne comptent pas véritablement de quotidien national (sauf USA Today), mais chaque grande ville a ses propres journaux (Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, etc.). La presse du soir est plus abondante que celle du matin. Dans 80% des cas, les journaux sont distribués à domicile par des jeunes qui gagnent ainsi leur argent de poche.
